Ranchbot Monitoring Solutions and Texas A&M AgriLife: Memorandum of Understanding to Advance AgTech Research and Ranch Innovation

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS, December 5, 2025 – Ranchbot Monitoring Solutions, Texas A&M AgriLife Research and the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing a collaborative framework to promote innovation and applied research in agricultural technology (AgTech). The agreement aims to explore how satellite-connected monitoring systems and digital tools can improve water, livestock and land-management outcomes for producers across Texas and beyond.

The MOU reflects the shared intent of the parties to cooperate on educational and research initiatives that demonstrate the value of remote infrastructure monitoring and data-driven insights in modern ranching and agricultural systems.

Under the agreement, the parties will explore opportunities to:

  • Advance research into the role of water as natural capital and its importance in livestock, grazing lands and wildlife management.
  • Demonstrate how IoT-enabled sensors and monitoring platforms can reduce labor and fuel use while improving water efficiency, animal health, and heat-stress management.
  • Support education and extension programs that help producers adopt practical, scalable AgTech solutions.

“Our collaboration with Ranchbot will bring together research and extension expertise with technology that may open new doors to enhanced ranch management decisions and the efficiency of resource use,” said Clay Mathis, Ph.D., professor and head of the Texas A&M Department of Animal Science.

“This MOU is a prime example of Texas A&M AgriLife linking science and industry to help deliver practical solutions that improve livestock productivity and sustainability,” said Andy Herring, Ph.D., professor, associate department head and extension leader for animal science in the Department of Animal Science.

The MOU is non-binding and does not establish a joint venture or funding commitment. Instead, it provides a framework for cooperation on future projects, educational programs, and technology demonstrations to be developed under separate agreements.

“We’re proud to partner with Texas A&M AgriLife, one of the most respected agricultural research and education institutions in the world,” said Andrew Coppin, Co-Founder and CEO of Ranchbot Monitoring Solutions. “This MOU builds a bridge between technology innovation and applied research, helping ranchers measure what matters most—water, livestock, and land—so they can make faster, smarter decisions.”

Ranchbot will make selected monitoring technologies available for AgriLife research and extension activities to assist with field demonstrations, outreach and student engagement. Early projects are expected to focus on the application of real-time water data and remote sensing to enhance ranch management decision-making.
